Ingredients
  

Churro Dough
  • 1 cup water Bring to a boil
  • ½ cup unsalted butter Can substitute margarine
  • 1 pinch salt Add to boiling water
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Stir until mixture pulls away from the pot
  • 3 large eggs Add one at a time to the cooled dough
Cinnamon Sugar Coating
  • ½ cup granulated sugar For rolling
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon For rolling

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a saucepan, combine water, butter, and salt. Bring to a boil.
  2. Add flour to the boiling mixture and stir until it pulls away from the sides of the pot.
  3. Remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
  4. Add in eggs one by one, mixing until smooth and glossy.
Baking
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Transfer the dough to a piping bag with a star tip, or use a zip bag with a corner snipped.
  3. Pipe 4-inch strips onto the prepared baking sheets.
  4. Bake for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Remove from the oven and roll the warm churros in the cinnamon sugar mixture.

Notes

For serving, try dipping churros in chocolate sauce, coffee, or hot cocoa. They can also be served with ice cream for an indulgent treat. Store leftovers in an airtight container for a couple of days; re-crisp in the oven if desired. Can be made vegan by substituting eggs and butter.
